Birthday girl

Yesterday was Gracie's Birthday.  What a fun day we had.  We enjoyed our morning, then headed over to Burger King for lunch.  After her nap, we had planned on going to the zoo, but when we got there at 3:45, we found out that it closed at 3:30.  boo-hoo.  So, we played on the playground at the park adjacent to the zoo.  After we ate dinner, we broke out the cake and presents.  It was a fun day and I can't believe my little girl is 2 already!  how time flies.

eggs

Tonight we had some friends over to dye easter eggs.  I thought it would last about 5 minutes, but they kept dipping and re-dipping the eggs.  It was great fun and we ended up with some cool looking eggs.  Gracies hands will be greenish blue for the next few days, oh well.  You will notice that she selected the perfect head wear for the evening....reindeer antlers.

gooooooaaaaaalllllll!

Today Jake had his first soccer game.  Spring has been teasing us here....70 degree weather, then snow the next day.  Today was SUPER windy and cold.  We bundled up and headed out to the field.  He did great and had fun.  I think our next game should be a bit warmer.  Here are a few shots of him in action.

our days

This is what we have been up to lately...

Gracie needed help getting her shoe back on....

....then she returned the favor.

she is quite the dare devil

We think they are pretty super.  If Jake has his super man shirt on, she is pretty insistent that she gets her super shirt on.

a project and a package

This week we have been working on getting the play set assembled that my parents gave us for Christmas. Since Tuesday it has been in the 60's (LOVING IT!!) so it was the perfect time to tackle the project.  I have been doing what i can on my own until Brooke had a day to help. He  was home all day today and we got most of it done.  It just goes to show you what some brains and brawn will do in moving things along!  I'll post some pictures of it in all it's glory when everything is done.  But in the meantime, here is a before shot and some of the kids playing in the yard.

As for the package...today we had a nice surprise waiting on our doorstep...a package from Aunt Brandi.  She mailed the kids some cookies and they went bonkers for them.  She knows her niece and nephew all too well.  Thanks Brandi!

Our 4th bedroom serves as a play/guest room.   Since we only have guests show up every once in a while, we just lean the bed up to the side of the room so the kids have more space to play.  On Saturday, Brooke got Jake to go on top of the mattresses and it became a new favorite pass time for both the kids.
